What does CARE do?
The purpose of CARE is to assist survivors of domestic violence in breaking the cycle of violence. The mission of CARE is to reduce family violence and draw on resources of various community groups to intervene in domestic violence situations. Through the program, staff and volunteers are on-call to assist those who are survivors of domestic violence.

What can CARE do for me?
Your CARE volunteer is their to listen to you and help you in any way that they can. Volunteers have been trained to help you through this immediate crisis and help you provide a long-term safety plan. They will also work with other agencies and community resources to hold those responsible for this violence accountable. What you say to your response team will be held confidential, if at all possible. What you say to the other community agencies or resources may or may not be confidential.

What can I expect from CARE?
  • They will talk with you to help you decide what you need.
  • They will explain how the criminal and civil court processes work.
  • They will offer information about agencies that may be able to help you further.
  • They will stay in contact over the next few weeks to help you in any way that they can.
What can I NOT expect from CARE?
  • Volunteers cannot make decisions for you.
  • They cannot give you legal advice.
  • Giving or loaning money is not allowed.
  • Volunteers cannot babysit your children.
